Where Did All the Rebels Go?

“Sometimes in order to rebuild, first you need to deconstruct”

Filmed between lockdowns in 2020, Where Did All the Rebels Go? is a stylised 15-minute
documentary about Donna, a 47-year-old who has recently left an abusive 27-year marriage. Taking what she calls a “sabbatical from life”, she resides in a former Catholic Primary school in central London.

This personal story flits between past and present, from echoey corridors to intimate spaces, all eyes on Donna as she wakes at 8pm, lights a fag, and pays homage to Adam and Ant and other punk greats on her record player.

We watch Donna reclaim her freedom, self-worth and personal identity by using music, fashion and art to carve out a new life; a life that doesn’t observe rules, or constructs or convention.
